Oscillating tangential knife head

Along with standard electrospindles for routing applications we supply cutting heads for cutting several materials. This equipment called oscillating tangential knife enables to cut soft materials such as corrugated cardboard, foam board, leather, cork, polystyrene, vinyl, etc. Some materials are better to cut without oscillation, the operator can choose in machine controller before starting a job. The knife is tangentially rotated with stepping motor in direction of cut. Depending on knife angle and thickness of material the operator selects angle to lift up for rotation of the knife.

COMAGRAV offers two types of oscillating cutting heads.

• Electric oscillating knife
  Oscillation is generated by DC electric motor with frequency 3.000 1/min. The electric oscillating knife is recomended only for soft materials. Range of oscillation is less than 1 mm. For special purposes we can supply higher oscillation range againts customer's order. This unit works with economical OLFA cutting knives, optionally with carbide knives (requires special knife holder). Cuts corrugated cardboard, lightened foam board, vinyl, cork, leather and similar.

• Pneumatic oscillating knife
  Oscillation is generated by supply of compressed air (compressor is not supplied). The pneumatic oscillating knife is significantly stronger and faster than electric unit. Range of oscillation is 6 mm. This unit works exclusively with carbide knives. Cuts corrugated cardboard, foam, vinyl, cork, leather, gaskets, and similar.

Additionaly the cutting equipment (electric or pneumatic) can be improved with a tool that push the material down during cutting process. This tool helps vacuum table to keep the material down and in several cases helps for a better cut.

Each cutting head can be installed as "combi-head" together with creasing wheel. This option makes your COMAGRAV system suitable for prototyping of packages made of corugated cardboard.

Oscillating cutter can be installed to COMAGRAV MISTRAL, ZONDA and NOTUS. Vacuum table is highly recommended for fixation of material. The head can work together with camera recognition system, which allows user to place material on the worktable without knowledge of exact position. The system automatically finds printmarks, adjusts size of cut in both vertical and horizontal directions, rotates the cutting path and starts the job.
